WFNX-LP is a Low Power FM (LPFM) station licensed to Scituate Community Radio, serving Scituate, Marshfield, Norwell, and Hanover from our broadcast site 370 feet above sea level overlooking the North River.

Although we’re a non-commercial station, we operate with professional-grade transmission and studio equipment, ensuring high-quality sound and reliable performance.
Our infrastructure is built with multiple redundancies to ensure uninterrupted broadcasting, even under extreme conditions. We are equipped to broadcast remotely from a local Emergency Operations Center (EOC), allowing us to provide real-time updates from emergency management officials. In the event of a power outage, we have a go kit that enables us to transmit directly from the transmitter site. Additionally, 5G connectivity allows seamless remote broadcasting from community events, reinforcing our commitment to staying live and local at all times.
We take audio quality seriously. Our music library is stored on redundant servers, ensuring both ample storage and backup capacity. All of our music is stored in uncompressed linear .wav (PCM) format, preserving the highest possible sound fidelity. Our gold tracks are sourced from TM Studio’s Gold Disc library, while new releases come from Promo Only and direct label partnerships. We also feature out-of-print and rare tracks, which we carefully restore and re-master in-house from vinyl or original CDs. WFNX-LP holds music licensing agreements from all applicable Performance Rights Organizations (PROs) to ensure compliance with music rights standards.
Our studio is built with Angry Audio and Studio Hub components, ensuring smooth integration and reliable performance from the console to the web-stream processor. Every aspect of our broadcast chain is designed to deliver clear, consistent, and professional audio to our listeners.
We also utilize RadioDNS, a hybrid radio technology that enhances our FM broadcasts with IP-based metadata and interactive content. This allows compatible devices to display station logos, song metadata, and even real-time emergency alerts, creating a more engaging and informative listening experience.
At 101-3 The Coast, technology isn’t just about equipment—it’s about delivering world-class rock and vital local information with clarity and reliability. If you have questions or just want to geek out with us, feel free to reach out!
