WFNX-LP is a Low Power FM (LPFM) station licensed to Scituate Community Radio. WFNX-LP’s City of License (COL) is Scituate, Massachusetts, and our Facility ID is 777947.
WFNX-LP broadcasts from an antenna located 370 feet above sea level overlooking the North River, covering the Scituate, Marshfield, and Norwell areas.
Although we’re an LPFM station, WFNX-LP is built with high-quality professional transmission and studio equipment. In line with our commitment to community service, we’ve incorporated multiple redundancies to ensure reliable operation under extreme conditions, providing vital communications in times of need. For example, we are equipped to broadcast remotely from a local Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to deliver updates from emergency management officials. Additionally, we have a “go kit” that allows us to broadcast from the transmitter site when commercial power is down.
5G technology enables us to broadcast remotely from community events, interfacing directly with our main studio. Our goal is to remain embedded within the community—being “live and local” is central to our mission. We are continually strengthening our systems to fulfill our commitment to community service.
Our music library resides on redundant 8TB hard drives, providing ample storage and backup capacity. All of our music originates uncompressed and is stored in linear .wav (PCM) format to ensure the highest-quality sound. Our “gold” tracks are sourced from TM Studio’s Gold Disc library, and new music is supplied by Promo Only or directly from record labels. We also feature many out-of-print and rare tracks, re-mastered in-house from vinyl or original source CDs. WFNX-LP holds music licensing agreements from applicable Performance Rights Organizations (PROs).
Our studio is built almost exclusively on Angry Audio and Studio Hub products. From the console to our web-stream processor, we got Angry with this build.
