Underwriting

Organizations and businesses can show their support for Scituate Community Radio’s 101.3 The Coast by sponsoring underwriting messages on our FM broadcast and web stream. When you hear “Support for 101.3 The Coast comes from…” on the station, that’s underwriting!

Underwriting with 101.3 The Coast is a values-driven, affordable way to let the community know about your business or organization while demonstrating your commitment to independent, local, non-profit radio. Opportunities are available on our FM signal, web stream, website, and smartphone app.

What is Underwriting?

Underwriting is not advertising. It is a brief, factual on-air mention — similar to a business card — acknowledging your support for the station. In exchange for a financial contribution, your business or organization is recognized on the air in a way that complies with FCC guidelines for non-commercial stations.

At 101.3 The Coast, we strictly adhere to these requirements. Underwriting messages must be:

  • Aired during a natural break in programming
  • Informational, not promotional
  • Brief and voiced only by a member of The Coast staff
  • Free of “calls to action” (e.g., “visit,” “stop by,” “act now,” etc.)
  • Descriptive, not comparative (no “best,” “only,” “#1”)
  • Free of prices, discounts, or sales language

Why Underwrite?

Our listeners value concise, community-focused information and respond positively to organizations that support local radio.

In fact, 70% of community radio listeners say that a business’s support for public radio influences their purchasing decisions. Underwriters and donors are also recognized on our Sponsors page, giving your business even more visibility.

Scituate Community Radio is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and your donations may be tax-deductible.
